 bob fosse 1-bob fosse worked as a chorographer in Chicago and all that jazz he also used to work in the navy. 2-some of his famous shows and the dates- Chicago in 1975 all that jazz-1979 the pajama game-1954 pippin-1972 3-critics would say that bob fosse jazz technique was slouchy and that it had bad posture they also used to say that it was pointless as there hats covered their faces anyway. 4-bob fosse and his work is so famous as the style ended up being linked to multiple Broadway musicals. in this photo you can see the dancers are using hats as props. Bob first started using hats in his work mainly because of his own self consciousness he used to also wear gloves as he didn't like his hands. in this photo the dancers are using the technique rolled back shoulders bob fosse used loads of things like this such as splayed fingers, turned in knees and side ways shuffles.  task two- this picture is showing isolations, isolation's are  used at the beginning of jazz dance classes in order to help loosen up the body as you have to move your hips or ribs to the beat of the music similar to how the African slaves danced to jazz music they moved only one part of the body while the rest of the body remains still. this photo is showing dancers using a low centre of gravity which us to keep balance dancers tend to use a low center of gravity and soft knee's because it helps maintain  transitions from one movement to the next. this photo is showing a contraction which is the contrast between desire and duty. The repeated use of contractions and releases gives a rhythmic energy to the movements in this technique given by choreographer martha graham. the historical context of jazz dance

 task one - 1-slaves first started traveling from Africa to America in the 16th to 19th century in the year 1526,the main reason that slaves travelled from Africa all the way to America was because they where forced into the slave trade. 2-music and dance culture of the African slaves mixed with that of the white plantation owners as they used music and dance whilst working as it helped them take there mind of things whilst working they felt as if if they sung and danced there way though the day it would go a lot quicker. They both used to use music by telling stories mainly abit there work and their past lives. 3-the music and dance of the African origin formed a starting point for jazz music and dance today as they both can be seen in the close relationship between body movement and music .jazz dance is very rhythmic and your likely to move to it in a very rhythmically way similar to how the African origin danced.
