Kathak style dancing - Features of Kathak Dance


Within this blog post i will be discussing the key features of Kathak dance, with illustrated examples. 




 
The context of kathak-

Where does the style of kathak originate ? 
The style of kathak originates in the northern India

What is the name of the original story tellers ?-the storyteller name is sadhbh Inman 

Where was kathak originally performed?-kathak was  Originally performed in northern India  

Task two -

Mudras-this means the use of hand gestures whilst dancing.
Bols- this means rhythmic spoken words , each word acts as a count.




Chakkar-this means the use of spins these are executed on the heels which contrasts to ballet pirouettes.




 Ghungurus-the bells around the ankles.




Tatkar-this means percussive footwork.
